What is SpliceMap?
SpliceMap is a fiber optic network management system for GPON and EPON networks. It keeps one accurate, shared map of your physical network — cabinets, ODFs, splice closures, splitters, ducts, and the connections between them — so your planners and field technicians are always working from the same source of truth.
Instead of spreadsheets and printed diagrams that go out of date the moment something changes in the field, SpliceMap gives you a live record that updates as your network grows.
Setting up your first cabinet
A cabinet is the physical enclosure that houses one or more ODFs. To add your first one:
- Go to Network → Cabinets → New Cabinet
- Give it a name and location (address or coordinates)
- Add one or more ODFs inside it, each with its own port count (12, 24, 48, or custom)
- Save — the cabinet now appears on your network map
You can add cabinets one at a time as you map your existing network, or use Planning Mode to draft a whole new build before anything goes live.
Understanding nodes
A node is any managed point in your network — a cabinet, an ODF, or a splice closure. Your subscription plan is based on how many nodes you manage, not how many subscribers, cables, or splitters you have.
This means your plan scales with the physical infrastructure you're responsible for, regardless of how many customers are connected to it.
Cabinets & ODFs
A cabinet can hold multiple horizontal ODFs (Optical Distribution Frames) of different sizes — for example, a 12-port and a 24-port ODF in the same cabinet. Each ODF tracks its own port assignments independently.
Click into any ODF to see which ports are patched, which are free, and which cable each occupied port feeds — without walking out to the rack to check.
Splice closures
Splice closures protect the fiber joins along your distribution and feeder cables. In SpliceMap, every closure is placed on the map with its:
- Physical location
- Total fiber capacity and current fill
- The individual splices/connections made inside it
Knowing a closure's fill before you roll a truck out saves a wasted trip if there's no room for one more splice.
Connections & splicing
Every fiber-to-fiber connection — whether it's a fusion splice inside a closure or a patch across an ODF — is recorded individually and checked against the physical route. If a connection record doesn't match what's expected along that route, SpliceMap flags the mismatch so you can catch it before it causes an outage.
Splitters
Passive splitters divide a single fiber into multiple output legs (commonly 1:8, 1:16, or 1:32). SpliceMap tracks the splitter ratio and shows exactly which output leg feeds which downstream closure, ODF, or subscriber drop.
Planning mode
Planning mode lets you draft new cabinets, ODFs, and routes on a separate layer before anything goes live. This keeps proposed builds clearly separate from what's actually deployed in the field — so a planner sketching next quarter's expansion never gets confused with the live network a technician is troubleshooting.
Once a planned build is complete and installed, you can promote it into the live network in one step.
OTDR fault localization
Import an OTDR trace and SpliceMap matches the distance-to-fault reading against your mapped route, pinpointing exactly which span, closure, or connection is responsible for a break or high-loss event — instead of leaving your technician to guess based on a distance number alone.
Duct & conduit tracking
Track the physical ducts and conduits each cable run travels through, including how full each duct is. This keeps your civil works planning (new conduit runs) in sync with your fiber planning (which cables need to go where).
Subscriber binding
Bind a subscriber's account directly to the ONU or drop that serves them. When a support call comes in, you can trace it straight back to the exact port, closure, and route involved — no more cross-referencing separate billing and network systems by hand.
In-building vertical mapping
Map fiber runs floor by floor inside multi-story buildings — risers, in-building splices, and unit-level drops — using the same tools you use to map outside plant. This is especially useful for MDU (multi-dwelling unit) deployments.
Role-based access
SpliceMap supports role-based permissions so technicians, planners, and administrators each see exactly what their role needs. To manage roles: Settings → Team → Manage Roles.
Common roles include Administrator (full access), Planner (network map and planning mode), and Technician (field view, closure and connection updates).
Activity logging
Every change to the network — who touched what, when, and why — is recorded automatically and available in Settings → Activity Log. This gives your team a full, searchable history for accountability and troubleshooting.
Choosing a plan
Plans are based on node count (cabinets, ODFs, and closures combined):
- Starter — up to 500 nodes, $50/mo
- Professional — up to 2,000 nodes, $100/mo
- Enterprise — over 2,000 nodes, custom pricing

Managing your subscription
Subscriptions are billed monthly through PayPal. To cancel or change your plan, manage it directly from the Automatic Payments section of your PayPal account, or contact us at info@splicemap.com for help moving between plans.
Common questions
Does SpliceMap work offline?
SpliceMap installs as a PWA (Progressive Web App) on phones, tablets, and desktops for an app-like field experience.
Can I migrate data from spreadsheets?
Yes — Professional and Enterprise plans include guided data migration. Starter customers can import via CSV or reach out for help.
What counts as a node?
Cabinets, ODFs, and splice closures. Cables, subscribers, and splitters don't count toward your node total.
Can I try SpliceMap before subscribing?
